Suction or Outflow Heaters
Many liquids like Furnace Oil, Bitumen, Low Sulfur heavy stock (LSHS), etc. have high
viscosity at ambient temperatures. In order to lower the viscosity of the liquid and make
them pumpable, suction heaters are used.
These heaters are usually operated with steam or thermal oil but can also be electrical
for low flow applications. ESCO manufactures a wide range of suction heater which are
flange mounted directly on the tank shell. The liquid passes through these heaters to
the pump suction.
These heaters can be horizontal or vertical but horizontal heaters are more common.

The suction heaters are customized for each application and ESCO can design and
estimate against the specific needs of the customers.
